Mayhem of the Mooninites!

So I asked SPC M if he really believed the first moon landing was a hoax. He said that he felt there was "reasonable doubt". (I have mentioned he just turned 19, right?)

This was the wrong thing to do because it meant that 1LT A went off for (I am not exaggerating) 2 solid hours of why the consipracy theorists are wrong. SPC M doesn't talk to us now.

They claim the whole thing was faked because there was actually no way to send a man to the moon at that time.

Never mind that there was no way Hollywood special effects could make a convincing moon landing either. Just watching the original Star Trek should make that clear.

It's a shame, he's a smart kid but dang, I guess this is what comes from growing up in San Luis Obispo.

It's getting tens of thousands of people to participate in the conspiracy without anyone blabbing that astonishes me. Most stuff even a tenth that secret makes it to the NYT front page in a couple of years.

The "tens of thousands of people" bit is 1LT A's #1 argument for why the conspiracy theory is ridiculous.

honestly, it's not a rigorous refutation, but Mythbusters does a pretty good rundown on some of the hoax stories.

at least a little of it is on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wym04J_3Ls0 don't know what your network conditions are like from there, though.

reasonable doubt, pfaah!

Good times on deployment! Is 1LT A familiar with XKCD, by any chance?

Because this comic definitely fits the story: http://xkcd.com/386/

I showed it to 1LT. He laughed.

Yeah, M is pretty well an idiot. I know he's 19, but that's not an excuse.
