Pleasant Sunday

CPT S and I usually end up encountering each other at breakfast, which is fun because we share many political opinions that we discuss over "Stars & Stripes". S&S, for those of you who are not familiar with it, is the military newspaper distributed free in deployed areas. It's not a bad news source and even provides a fatter Sunday edition for reading at the breakfast table.

After that it was back to my room until time for church. I got to serve as Eucharistic Minister for the first time, although I'm always awfully nervous when I have the chalice instead of the ciborium. The Precious Blood is the only alcohol permitted in theatre, except for the wine used in Jewish holy days.

MAJ T and I had lunch, then went off to the MWR building for a game afternoon I'd set up. Unfortunately about half our party had reserved a basketball court, so our Trivial Pursuit game was cut short. I, CPT S and SGT S were a bit cross because we'd been enjoying it a lot and plan to play longer next week. The MWR snack bar area (this is the building with the movie theatre as well) has a good selection of board games, although I feel that having Twister there is more than a little bit unwise.

Dinner was Indian/Middle Easter tonight. Indian food at least once a weekend is definitely the pattern, so I had that and lamb. I really should just eat vegetarian on these nights; while my lamb was good, the chickpeas and rice and gobi masala were much better.

I felt like buying something, but have discovered over time that getting something out of the library usually scratches that itch, so I have George RR Martin's "The Hedge Knight" and the first volume of "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" which is far, far funnier than I expected. The movie was so awful!

Off to take my shower and settle in with books for the evening.

Yup, it's no secret I'm a 27D (JAG paralegal).

What if it's to write a Power of Attorney to allow your wife to buy you a new sports car with your lottery winnings?

I have a special POA for my husband to handle my student loans. I've also done them for shipping cars, starting or ending cell phone contracts, etc. Changing TriCare is done over the DEERS website (no SPOA needed) and if the house is jointly owned you don't need one for repairs.

We always boggle at people who say, "I need one for my wife to take the kids to the doctor." "Well, are they hers? Yes? Why does she need one then?"

The one thing we will NOT draft for ANYONE is a General Power of Attorney. Fortunately, California at least is starting to not recognize them anyway.
