More R&R

Well, I finally got to bake my bread. I didn't grease the glass pan as well as I should have, so that loaf tore but the one baked in silicon was fine. I'll have to get myself a second silicon loaf pan when I get back from Afghanistan for good. I might bake cookies later tonight.

I also did some spiritual viewing on Netflix Play It Now. "Merton: A Film Biography" didn't tell me a whole lot about Thomas Merton, but I liked seeing him on film and getting visuals of things I've read about. I also enjoyed seeing and hearing Thich Nhat Hanh.

The Mychal Judge biography "Saint of 9/11" should be mandatory viewing. He embodied the Franciscan charism of reaching out to the whole world, especially the lepers. The lepers of his time were of course AIDS patients in the 1980s whom he anointed, embraced, comforted and buried. When the NYFD, to whom he was chaplain, gave him a car with a siren and flashing red light, he loved it because he could carry supplies to the poor. Oh, and he was gay, big deal. I'm going to ask him to pray for me from now on.

Last year's Star Trek movie arrived on Blu-Ray in the mail today, so Steve and I are going to watch that tonight.

Saint of 9/11 is awesome. you can find it online, and I watch it when I start feeling awful about the RCC.
