Freyfaxi, aka Lammas

Today was the abovementioned holiday. The first name is the Nordic one, the second the Celtic one. Steve and I hauled in our tomato harvest yesterday. Steve bought the pressure cooker he's been coveting for months now and we spent yesterday evening blanching, peeling, cutting up and steaming them. He didn't expect much, but we got six pints for our efforts. I'll use them in the "dead of winter", such as it is in San Diego.

I slept until 0800 today and after making breakfast for Steve and myself ended up going too late to get to Mass. My only worship thus ended up being the ritual up in Orange County held by vanirpriestess. We circled around a wain (wagon) dedicated to the Golden God Frey and shared a horn of non-alcoholic cherry cider. We thanked Frey and the nisse for abundance and we ate from a very nice loaf made by a participant. I only noticed when there were photos that the loaf had been in the shape of a willie.

The other offering was an ear of corn I brought from our garden, since Lord Frey blessed it quite a lot this year. We're still waiting for the squash to come in.
