Greek Palace

So Becky the Paralegal is moving on to greener pastures and Steve wanted to go out to lunch. We went to Greek Palace near the courthouse. I'd passed the place but never gone in. It's an old 1950s style "room" with red vinyl booths, dark wood and a real bar and stage.

I had the vegetarian plate, although I went with the avgolemono (lemon chicken) soup, which was tasty if a bit salty. My plate was small servings of dolmades, hummus, baba ghanouj, spanokopita and felafel. More than I could eat, and I didn't have it all. Good though; I normally hate eggplant but in baba ghanouj (which used to be one of our nicknames for Badira) it's something else.

We finished off by sharing a dessert of phyllo filled with custard. It was similar to galaktaboureko, which is my favourite dessert ever, even more than carrot cake, and we nommed.

Todd didn't go, although he was invited. He sent a message saying "I missed lunch :(" For him, that's a tragedy. Good thing he bikes 20 miles a day; I've never seen anyone who liked to eat as much as he.

The Greek Palace hosts comedy shows most night starting at 7. Steve, Becky and I all agreed that it might be a fun night out some time.

That sounds scrumptious. And not at all like South Beach. ?

Newp, not at all like South Beach. But it were good, so it's not like I was breaking the routine to go to Taco Bell or other disgusting fare. Plus I don't think I'll be eating dinner tonight; chickpeas are filling.
