Follow up to my last Army post

Okay, I have to lose weight, if only so I can fit in the clothes I was wearing last summer. The Army just gave me a solid motivator.

I saw a mention of a phone app called "Lose It" in some article I was reading. I downloaded it to my Android phone and started fiddling with it. My gosh, this thing is amazing. I like making lists and counting things anyway, part of my OCD/Aspergers/whatever, so this is more fun than anything else. I weighed 146 not quite two weeks ago. My goal is 130. I want to lose a pound a week. The app gave me a calorie budget of 1,267 a day. It has a very comprehensive list of foods and their nutritional values, including fast food and chain restaurants (N.B., shun PF Chang's). Every time I work out, that also goes into the tracker. So far I've lost two pounds, and it's not even remotely crazy-making. Plus, since I tend to be a pretty healthy eater to start off with, I'm eating enough to not be hungry.

Yeah. I'm in your boat where I just want to lose a few pounds. So, it's not enough for me to sign up with a service like Weight Watchers, but just walking more and not tracking my food at all also isn't working.

And the platform is pretty intuitive, and I like the 'synching' and 'friends' feature. my account there is 'spinifex@gmail.com'

It's pretty good. When I remember to use it, I pretty consistently lose weight, then when I don't, I tend to stay stable.
