Oddly....

After two particular rituals at Pantheacon, I'm wanting to re-examine my relationships with Jesus and Mary. I know I cannot do it within Catholicism. Ah well, I like challenges and navel-gazing.

I've been to ask, do you still hold with Catholic teaching on the Eucharist, even though you're not practicing?

I realized something recently about Mary. She's the number one reason I returned to the Church and the number one reason I stay Catholic.

People commonly say they stay for the Eucharist, and I used to say that, but I realized that wasn't it for me. I still believe in the Eucharist and it's important to me but it's not my top reason for staying Catholic.

I pretty much try not to think about the Eucharist.

Honestly, I do sort of miss it. It's so in tune with my heritage; crunching the body and blood of one's god in your teeth! Still, I resent the idea of anyone being able to hold any god, much less one they say is THE god, hostage.
