State of the Me

It was a horrible week for the U.S. I'm not going to discuss it beyond that.

Steve is in Arizona for the weekend. I am running wild. Last night I went to the Reconstructionist synagogue because I've never been to one. It was the kid-oriented Erev Shabbat, so it was easy to follow. I think I did all right singing in Hebrew, although those around me might say otherwise. I wore a kippah (aka yarmulke) like many of the other women, and we all turned at one point to greet the Sabbath Queen, of whom I've dreamed. Many of the congregation are converts who ended up signing on because they like the community there. I don't know that I want to convert, but I realized that I'd been jonesing to worship in a congregation. I'd been thinking of the Missiongathering church, but the problem with that is "personal God and all about de Jesus". God of the Kabbalah isn't personal, so that fits me like a glove, AND it gives lots of room for other gods to exist. Which makes sense; the early Hebrews were polytheistic, then henotheistic, then only monotheistic after the Babylonian Exile.

This morning I did laundry, culled my clothing, then went to yoga. After yoga I swung over to Ritual to have some brunch. The beer I had was 11.5%, so I took a nap after I showered. Then it was off to the monthly Geeky Music at Lestat's, which was ruined by some VERY sexist songs by the guest musician. I mean, a whole song of slut-shaming his ex. Charming. Then a song about how great blow jobs were. Yeah, no.

Home again, having a little wine, and continuing my "Steve isn't here so I'm running wild" by playing Ravi Shankar and not using headphones.

Would it surprise you to learn that a recent poll of MCCT attendees showed a high percentage of atheists? Well, I was surprised, though ultimately pleased to know that these individuals feel comfortable enough to attend worship services held in a church.

Woo-hoo for the beer. I've only had two hours of sleep, so wish I had something sleep-inducing like that here.

Gee, I can guess why that singer's girlfriend is now his ex! What a prize!
