Back to the Jack Pt. 2

Class started at 0830 today. I set my alarm for 0700, but that just means my body thought it was 0400, so I was awakened out of deep REM. Tomorrow I can sleep till 0900, so I probably will.

Course was fine again today. My instinct remains to stop a suicidal person by offering to help them do the deed, but at least I have more socially acceptable tools now.

After the class was over, my orders were signed and my training certificate received, I got into my rental car to take a trip down memory lane. I re-found the building where I stayed in 2008 and got pneumonia, but it predictably took more searching to find the Basic Training areas. After a circuit of the parade grounds where the graduations are held, I did get onto Golden Arrow (not likely to forget a street name like that) and past the huge four-story brick buildings that are the Basic Training barracks. It was around 1600, so I knew the trainees would be getting ready to go to chow. I saw a handful of them in PTs down by the bleachers in the company areas. I was just glad not to be one of them; it was 97 degrees with humidity.

As I left via one of the more remote gates in the forest, I shouted loudly, "You have no power over me, Ft. Jackson, I take any and all of it back!"
