Continuing the religious tourism

I went to Desert View Independent Fundamentalist Baptist today. They're KJV 1611-only and ended up being less weird than Living Word. I was kind of bored by the sermon; in IFB churches that's the largest part of the service, apparently. The text was 1 Corinthians 9:24 through 10-end of chapter. The sermon was about not succumbing to temptation, and working to keep one's walk with Jesus strong. I was a little bored, but had to admit it was pretty solid theologically. There was no paranoia, or over-emphasis on the afterlife as more important than the life we live now.

I stopped at Mona's Fry Bread on the Tohono O'Odham Indian reservation on Sandario Road and brought home some for our lunch. I only ate half of mine and refrigerated the rest; the beef chili (with stewed, shredded meat) and refried beans on top were great but sooo filling.

I'm going to try the ELCA church on Thornydale next week. I don't think they'll find my nontheism to be a no-go. I really miss being able to worship in a congregation.
