Trying to develop a system

At the moment, I cart around four separate journals. I have a very small purple one that I carry in my purse for lists and random thoughts, a handcrafted leather one that is my "spirituality" journal, a larger, flexible leather book for fiction ideas that strike me on the fly, and finally a hardcover weekly calendar.

That's way too much. I resolved yesterday that I should come into the 21st century and start keeping my calendar in my iPhone. But I still need to keep notes, and like having my thoughts organized.

The optimal solution is looking more and more like the Midori Traveler's Notebook in "passport" size. Tammy Strobel of http://www.rowdykittens.com uses one. It is a cover with a closure in which you can fasten as many separate little booklets as you want/need. A lot of people use it for art on the fly, or a small scrapbook. I think a person's daily thoughts are worth keeping in an enjoyable format, so when my current crop of journals start to be filled up, this is the route I'll take.
