Church

I went. Steve was napping so I left him to be. When I went in, they hadn't taken down the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe yet, and Fr. Clement was saying the Mass, which was the only reason I was there.

The two combined made me feel a whole lot better about going--I'd been dreading it all day. Clement's a good preacher; I had never attended a Mass he'd said in a church, only in private homes. Nonetheless, this was still the first time in my life that I went up for a blessing and not communion, which was a strange feeling.

I brought him back to the house after, since he hasn't seen Steve in years. We had burritos from Saguaro and a good long chat. Mei-Mei, bless her little feline heart, wanted to give him snugglies because he was sitting in what we call the "snuggle spot" on the couch, but he was clearly uncomfortable with having a cat around, so she kept her distance and looked up plaintively. Usually cats make a beeline for the person who doesn't want a cat nearby, but Mei-Mei is a cat of unusual virtue.

Perhaps Father was afraid of getting cat hair on his black clothes. I'm glad Mei-Mei is feeling up to being sociable and wanting attention :)

He's Nigerian and the idea of allowing an animal in the house is still completely foreign to him.

Oh, Mei-Mei's feisty! She was feeling okay even before the vet appointment, but is JUST FINE now, all puffy and fun!
