For future reference: bad wine

Oak Leaf. This is a two-buck chuck not suitable for drinking (very, very thin and nasty) but okay for cooking.

Don't bother cooking with it. The wine you cook with should always be good enough for the chef to enjoy drinking it while cooking.

I learnt my lesson when I tried a cheap, non-obnoxious, but not good wine in coq-au-vin. It turned out, uhm, boring. It was a waste of my time and effort and a perfectly good chicken.

I've already used this in a pasta sauce and it was adequate for that.
