New identity

I am officially a moistened bint, like in Monty Python. I just need a scimitar to chuck.

It was raining to beat the band this morning as I left for work. The intersection of Howard and 33rd is sunken a bit, and the rain was creating rivers a good four to six inches deep. I picked where the water looked shallowest, but still ended up soaked to above my ankles.

I wandered around barefoot at work while my shoes and socks sat in front of a space heater under my desk. Someone took pity on me and gave me a pair of old socks she happened to have in her cubicle. I was duly grateful. No kidding, it made my day.

My shoes dried before my socks, so now, five hours after the incident, I have dry feet. And the rain seems to have stopped.

Wow. My friend Mike mentioned that it was raining today. I didn't realize you guys were drowning down there.

back in the day when i had to commute a lot, i kept a ziplock bag of sicks in the bottom of one of my desk drawers or in the trunk of the car.

you can deal with wet shoes, but soggy socks suck....
(try saying that fast... ugh)

When I was a kid, we took our shoes and socks off in weather like that ;) Your feet will be wet in any case, and that way your shoes and socks stay dry.

Yeah, but I don't think they'd let me on the bus barefoot, plus it was cold today!

Eck, wet feet *shudders* Few things are worse. Many blessings on the lovely soul who gave you dry socks.
