Attn Facebook Users:

They now own your material forever. The TOS was changed February 4 and it looks like I got out just in time:

They can keep it. If I didn't want people to know, I wouldn't have put it on there in the first place.

It's not a matter of "knowing" anything, but that they can use (and sell!) material on there. You know that picture of me in ACUs? That was taken by a friend of mine who is starting a career as a stock photographer. She'd be most unhappy were her work to end up property of Facebook for no compensation.

That's fine; other people might be, especially if they're in the arts.

Yeah, I'm kinda of the same thought on that. But I understand what Steph is saying too.

Again, it's not a privacy issue but a copyright issue. Someone who has a cute picture of a kitten up could have that picture sold to, say, Purina for an ad and never see a dime.

This is not why I nuked my Facebook, but it makes me glad I did.

A man who blogs for CNET blog network has posted there that Facebook is doing a poll about returning to the old TOS. I haven't been polled, though, and I was just on Facebook.

Honestly, I don't think FB is being sinister as much as stupid. They would have avoided some of the fuss had they been more upfront about planned changes.
