Never voting again.

Boumedine v. Bush be damned, the Obama administration is going to continue to deny trials to "enemy combatants":

http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/asiapcf/02/20/afghan.detainees/index.html

I will now proceed to be amused by Democrat-phobes who wish a Republican were in the White House. We seem to have one there after all. The only upside is that VPOTUS isn't a terrifying Fundamentalist hayseed.

And I am officially NEVER voting again. NEVER. There is no point in doing it in this country.

How surprising. Obama wants to deny enemy combatants a "right" they have never been granted in any other war.

It does show that Obama's not the fool he pretended to be when he ran for President.

The only upside is that VPOTUS isn't a terrifying Fundamentalist hayseed.

No, he's a blithering buffoon who thinks that FDR was President in 1929 and had access to television broadcasting networks.

Whoops, misunderstood you on first and second reading.

I agree with you, but if I *must* be made to choose between those two (and it's a choice between a giant douche and a shit sandwich) I still feel better with Biden as bullet-proof vest than Palin. Too many crazy fundies would be willing to take a shot at McCain to make Ms. Bible-Believer president. On the other hand, nobody wants to see Biden as president.

I've been saying that for years.

We plan to move to a larger place in 2010. I just won't register to vote. This will have the pleasant side effect of me not getting called up for jury duty either. I think juries are a good thing--for criminal trials. Most are civil and that's bullshit.

"The new administration... has now indicated it will continue to argue that it is against its security interests to release enemy combatants in a war zone."

See, that's exactly why I don't have a problem with it. They release these guys and they go back out there and fire rockets at our bases and shoot at our troops and plant IED's.

"Held without trial" means that they don't know if these guys are shooting at our bases or not. That's what a trial is for--fact finding.
