Poor Mei-Mei

As I said earlier, we'd noticed her little butthole was red and angry. When we noticed that she only sat down gingerly, americanstd and I said, "Yep. Impacted anal glands."

So she's been to the vet, and her anal glands have been expressed. She's walking around looking violated and complaining loudly. Who can blame her?

This is still far better than the time Badira's impacted anal glands exploded and she immediately ran for our bed so she could get this rope of bloody pus ALL OVER OUR PILLOWS.

Confirmed that once again, our glucometer is 33 points off the vet's. Mei-Mei's doing well on that front too, down to 1/2 unit once a day. Just enough to be a nuisance, but since she's otherwise healthy, we'll take it.

I'm glad Mei-Mei is better now; she had to be miserable.

The story about Badira is .... ewwwww! Of course poor kitty couldn't help herself.

Oh, we're quite sure Badira knew *exactly* what she was doing. That cat was the incarnation of all that is evil.

I had one cat about 15 years ago that was so hateful he would see me watching TV and get between me and the TV and poop right there. He knew what he was doing ... I never figured out why. He received so much love and attention.

Badira wasn't *that* bad, but she was pretty malevolent. At the same time, she was a mighty cuddler. Mei-Mei is angelic, but not into the physical affection.

We didn't even hear anything as they were expressing her glands. The vet tech said that she grumbled under her breath but that was it. Badira would have tried to eviscerate the vet and the tech, and her howls would have rattled windows in Orange County and been heard in Simi Valley.

You write in such a comical manner, especially your last line ... you should write a book!

huh. I did not know that cats could suffer from this problem. I've only ever heard of it with dogs.

They both get it and it's treated the exact same way.
