Odds n' Ends

Yesterday I saw a genuine Kuwaiti sheikh. His headrope (holding on his Givenchy headscarf) was plain black so I'm guessing he wasn't a very senior member of the royal family. AJ was built by Kuwait to keep the threat of Iraq at bay, and he was inspecting things and asking how people liked them. I first saw him getting food at the DFAC--the DFAC close to me is operated by the Government of Kuwait. Then he and his entourage headed over to the PX and finally he took photos in the gym. Yesterday was Soul Food day which IMHO isn't the best day to try out the facilities.

Today on the other hand was Arab and Indian food day, which meant I had my usual cauliflower curry and a new green bean and potato curry, both of which were really good. I'm so glad it's not all American food in the DFAC, although I wish they would serve decent pasta.

I saw frosted cherry Pop-Tarts at the PX. I had a really strong urge to buy them and now I hate myself because they're good.

Steve and Mei-Mei were on gmail chat with me this morning, which is their evening. Our neighbour Catherine came in to say hello to me, and didn't nasty little Mei-Mei start sucking up to her! She was headbutting and kissing Catherine's hand and receiving pets, every once in a while giving me a "this is what you get!" look to the camera.

Steve also sleeps on the couch in the living room often, so I get to see her sitting on top of his covers sometimes. That's always adorable.

By the way, Steve's big desk and our famous ass-eating couch are up for grabs. We want $50 for the TV, which he is selling because he doesn't watch it. We'll get a plasma when I get home because I watch a lot of DVDs and online programming that we pipe into a TV.

Ass eating couches are the best. And cherry pop tarts are tasty. These disjointed thoughts brought to you because I have consumed no caffeine yet.

Thats so funny, when I'm home all alone I sleep on the couch too. Don't know why that is.

Btw, I suggested to Patrick he might try to call Steve while he was down South.

The "headrope" is called an agal and is normally black in color.

ETA: The keffiyeh comes in many different colors and patterns and it depends on the region in some cases.

LJ has been and still is having a DOS and I've not been able to read your posts. Last night is the first time I was able to access LJ since Thursday night.

Today on the other hand was Arab and Indian food day, which meant I had my usual cauliflower curry and a new green bean and potato curry, both of which were really good. This sounds wonderful! Was the curry sprinkled on the cooked vegetables or were they fixed some other way?

It was aloo gobi, just as it would be in an Indian restaurant. So both were stews with the spices.
