How To Prevent Rape

To wit:

1. Don’t put drugs in people’s drinks in order to control their behavior.

2. When you see someone walking by themselves, leave them alone!

3. If you pull over to help someone with car problems, remember not to assault them!

4. NEVER open an unlocked door or window uninvited.

5. If you are in an elevator and someone else gets in, DON’T ASSAULT THEM!

6. Remember, people go to laundry to do their laundry, do not attempt to molest someone who is alone in a laundry room.

7. USE THE BUDDY SYSTEM! If you are not able to stop yourself from assaulting people, ask a friend to stay with you while you are in public.

8. Always be honest with people! Don’t pretend to be a caring friend in order to gain the trust of someone you want to assault. Consider telling them you plan to assault them. If you don’t communicate your intentions, the other person may take that as a sign that you do not plan to rape them.

9. Don’t forget: you can’t have sex with someone unless they are awake!

10. Carry a whistle! If you are worried you might assault someone “on accident” you can hand it to the person you are with, so they can blow it if you do.

A nice rejoinder to the "don't go walking alone at night", "don't wear provocative clothing", "make sure you always are with a male for protection" crowd.

11. Carry a firearm.

12. Practice with #11, know how to use it, and be willing to do so if needed.

Yes I know the first list was tongue in cheek. I almost added 13. If in the PRK, see #10 and disregard #11-12. It's been a long day.

The onus of this 1-10 is to put the onus on the would-be rapist for a change. Although carrying a firearm is, for a lady, never a bad idea.

Excellent! If I'd only had this earlier, I could've avoided that stint in San Quentin!

I remember years ago hearing that when Israel was trying to figure out how to prevent rape, there was a proposal to put a curfew on women, Golda Meir (I think maybe PM at the time?) said to hell with that, it's the men who are attacking the women, put the men under curfew!

Yeah, really! I keep seeing how if women are endangered, do something to restrict THEM. Example: there was a peeping tom in the womens' locker room, so we're closing off the womens' locker room. Yeah, there's a good idea.
