Erev Halloween

On my way back from church (went to the Saturday night mass) I noticed that it looked as if 30th and University were hopping. I mentioned this to Steve when I got back, and after dinner we took a stroll. SDSU was seriously in the house; we are dismayed by how much inway is being made into turning North Park into the inland Pacific Beach.

Costumes made me go "hm". We saw one guy dressed as an Hasidic Jew and two girls dressed in Harlem Globetrotters costumes, wisely without blackface or afro wigs.

We did see one Asian girl in a pink Marie Antoinette costume with a miniskirt. She was cute as a bug's ear. We saw a couple of good vampires.

Ritual was way overcrowded on the way down 30th but okay on the way back up so we stopped off to raise a glass. The Bourbon beer is recommended; very sweet, mellow and strong. I had my usual Basket Case cab sauv. The staff were dressed as pirates and there were some beer-hoisting skeleton decorations and Jolly Rogers. Nick the bartender wasn't too happy about dressing like a pirate, but he was surviving.

I'm going to a Heroes Against Hunger party today and have a trunk full of baby food. Happy Halloween, and a very blessed Samhain to those who celebrate it, followed by a joyous New Year.

Did you get the big "Pro life sermon" complete with a list of who's pro life and who's "Pro abortion" that we got? That really irritates me because I have a hard time believing that anyone is really pro-abortion

No, there were no politics at all beyond the priest pointing out that there were voters' guides at the back of the church. I've already voted and didn't pick one up.
