Texas is delishus.

We've been eating like we'll never eat again. This was not helped when Todd (aka MAJ T) and his gf Lourdes came to visit.

They arrived in the afternoon on Saturday and we started out for Quarry Market. Steve and Todd took over Club Humidor, smoking two cigars each and Todd buying some. He's working at Ft. Hood this year, and he says he could easily make the drive from Killeen to SA once a week to stock up.

We hung around the shopping centre a bit, then returned to the room to change clothes and headed to the Riverwalk.

The Riverwalk is kind of the Gaslamp with a river going through it. It's pretty though, and quite romantic when it's lit up at night. I understand they do a festival of lights in December called Luminaria. Unfortunately, on a holiday Saturday night it's really crowded and extra hot.

We waited 20 minutes for a seat at County Line Barbecue and it was WORTH it. We started with a barbecue sampler and their famous bread, plus beers. I was fixated on the black pepper BBQ turkey and had some but it's all good. They make their own sausages, the brisket is divine, the beef ribs to die for. I had the peach cobbler minus ice cream for dessert and it was a small piece and very tasty. It's peach season in TX.

We sat on the street and Todd smoked. After that we went home to bed. Our suite has a sofabed so we were hoping for guests.

Todd and Lourdes were both excited about eating at The Cracker Barrell. Todd had the granola pancake breakfast on my recommend and almost couldn't finish it. Lourdes didn't finish her pecan pancake breakfast. Both come with pancakes, two eggs, sliced bananas and I don't recall what all else. Me, I only had the pancakes and one turkey sausage patty. Steve had a country breakfast.

That still held me and Steve over until we took the hour drive up to Austin to see electorprince. He was having severe car problems but being an hour away from him and not seeing him was unthinkable. We had dinner at a burger place whose name I forget and didn't get to see him nearly long enough, but better than nothing.

Today we slept in until the maid knocking on the door woke us up. We lounged around the room and eventually went out to get drinks to put in our cooler for the trip. We'll leave early tomorrow.

I'll miss this town.

When Steve lived in San Antonio wasn't the best time in either of our lives, but it's still a good memory (the town, that is.) Granted, Austin isn't San Antonio, but it's close.

And you'll miss the nom-nom-nommy food, too!

The burger joint is called EZ's Brick Oven & Grill. There are four of them in San Antonio so you're in no danger of having to travel an hour to one all the time. Car is fixed and the tires aren't flat, they were just low. Apparently, hydrogen fills don't last as long in the heat as just air fills, so I gauged and filled them to proper volume.

I'm glad the car is fixed. If you can score a job soon all will be well.

Have you checked out Durty Nelly's on the Riverwalk? it's nowhere near as spiffy as the original in Bunratty, but it's still a good time.
