Music purchases

In the past week or so, I'd gotten a strange urge to listen to the Beatles. Amazon has the CD of the remastered White Album for $18.88. Digital rights belong to the iTunes Store exclusively. I went there and found the album for download for $24.99. How about no? So we made a stop at Book-Off today and I walked away with both the White Album and Let It Be for $26. I love me Book-Off.

After that, while Steve was looking for a cleaning rod, I went into a store next door that billed itself as "Eco-Mart". It was just a for-profit thrift store, but we walked out with a wooden TV table for $3.00 and a framed print in blues and silver of sea creatures. The print is currently in the master bathroom, complementing the frosted art-nouveau medicine chest (purchased from the Habitat For Humanity Re-Store) and the blue walls.

So far my eco-conscious shopping is serving me well.

I've got both the White Album and Let It Be on vinyl (the original versions).

iTunes is a rip-off at the best of times.

This icon is genius and you should feel good about it.

yeah, that original price was a definite no. plus when I really like something, personally holding it in my hot little hands and knowing my backup can be analog or digital is how I like to rock it.

I have the Beatles stuff on vinyl and disk - several copies - big Beatles fan. If you're looking more, allow meto recommend Rubber Soul or Revolver. I really think these 2 albums show te transition from extraordinary rock band to the music innovators that the band (and each of the members) was destined to become

I am very familiar with the band's work. I was singing "Love Me Do" when I was a toddler. I know most of their work by heart, but really felt like listening to it rather than just hearing it in my head. I like everything except their early stuff, even though that's what brought them to the dance.

Thrift shopping is the most frugal and ecological way to go!

Itunes is insane. I'm glad there isn't a version of it for Linux. I've had good luck with stuff on sale from Amazon. It's DRM-free, and they don't care what OS you use. Plus, if something goes wrong, they fix it.

But, yeah, I miss Cellophane Square and Half Price Books.
