Really, City of San Diego?

About four months ago, the City started repairing all the streets in my immediate vicinity. Yay!

Unfortunately, once they reach our little corner of the world they messed up big time.

Masha and Kirk, two friends of ours, were over here so we could all go out to dinner. This was a month ago. As we walked outside, Kirk looked at the construction and said, "Oh, these guys are gonna be back. Probably two or three times." He explained why, but I didn't "get" what the reasons were.

Well, Kirk was right. For the past week, they've been ripping up our street for the third time. Thing is, they're only doing it at NIGHT. They start around 10 pm or so and continue on until 8 in the morning. It's driving everyone in the condo complex nuts. The folks at the front of the building really cannot sleep, but even for those of us at the back, the sound carries really effectively into our windows.

For the past few days I've been depressed, and Steve more so. This morning it hit me--neither of us has gotten a good night's sleep in at least a week. It's affecting the cats too; they're being really obnoxious at night, as the noise seems to be upsetting them.

As HOA president, Steve is calling our city councillor tomorrow.

As one who had jackhammers right outside her bedroom window at 7 a.m. for a week, we feel your pain.

What an intolerable (aren't I being polite?) situation. I'd really like to know what ridiculous excuse you'll get for them working at night. {o:o} The mind boggles as the eyes goggle. Does the city itself not have bylaws to prevent this (or am I being awfully naive since I live in Canada)?

I'm sending you my official cuddly sleep piggies. If only they could work long distance.

I have no idea, because yes there are laws preventing this. I've entertained the notion that they're vampires, but I know I'll have no such luck as to going outside and finding the vampires from TrueBlood with their shirts off.
