Housecleaning weekend

So, as I was driving home from work on Friday, I passed the strange sight of a guy carrying a huge cross along the side of the road. He had a couple of friends with him, and the cross had little wheels at the bottom end. Unfortunately I was on the access road where there are no shoulders and it was raining, so I couldn’t turn around and get pictures.

My parents are coming to visit next weekend, so this weekend was dedicated to cleaning up the house. My laundry is done and Steve’s is at least contained to his hamper. He wired up our bedroom TV so we can get over the air programs again, and I vacuumed.

Saturday night we had to go to Loew’s (big hardware store like Home Depot) so we stopped on the way to have Cracker Barrel for dinner. I finally ordered the chicken and dumplings, which was a mistake as it was more dumplings and more dumplings with four small bits of chicken breast in the gravy. Steve had chicken fried steak which is always a winner there.

I intended to bingewatch some more “Arrow” but didn’t get around to it. Netflix only has the first two seasons, but I’m optimistic about the third going up soon.

I really liked Cracker Barrel the only time I ate there in the South.

Apparently Cracker Barrel is expanding into the west coast finally, but I don't know when. Steve and I love the place; it's white trash food at its finest. They serve Coca-Cola cake!

Wow, that's great!

Hey now, it's not white trash food, it's good ole' southern style home cookin'!

Yes, there is a difference. Shut up Sven.

Good description of the place. last time we ate there it was terrible and the service lousy. Alb. has a restaurant called Christy Mae's that's ten times better. I haven't been there in years though.

I wonder if the guy walking with the cross was walking to Chimayo, here in NM, for the annual Good Friday Pilgrimage. I always say one of these days I'm going to make the walk, but as I'm not going to Mass much these days, I don't seem to find the inspiration.

Out-of-towners and people from long distances leave early so that they can get there on time. Or perhaps he was walking to some location in Az. somewhere.
