Fair Days

I've had a plan lately to establish a Little Free Library in our village. (http://www.littlefreelibrary.org). I've never done this kind of promotion before, so my table at the Spring Fair was a bust. The Spring Fair was in the same space as the monthly Food Truck Roundups, in the parking lots of Sally's Red Rock Bar. I envisioned a folder of flyers, some colour photos, and a building made out of white posterboard that kids could draw on.

It...didn't end up looking like that. There were some strong winds, so Steve and I ended up having to fold up our pop-up gazebo. Flyers went all over the place. The cats thought the poster board building was keen, no one else did. I became flustered and embarrassed at the joke of a table I had. Fortunately, the weather gave me an "out" and I went home to lick my wounds and watch Ghost Adventures.

(Unrelated, Bucky has revealed himself to be one of those asshole cats who likes to knock over drinks. If you're at our house, be warned. I'm glad that most of the time I'm drinking plain water.)

Last night it rained, with thunder though not lightning. We slept in, then headed to the Pima County Fair because it was the last day. We went to IHOP for breakfast, and both recommend the Turkey and Avocado Bennie (Benedict) as being lighter fare and quite tasty. Then it was off to the fairgrounds. Pima County doesn't have a very big fair, but it had all the essentials: carnival rides and games, an agriculture show, animal exhibitions and auction, and of course, fair food. We shared a tray of four deep-fried Oreos, which are essentially doughnut holes with Oreos as the filling. Tasty, but two each was enough. Steve had some grilled corn and I got a limeade.

I'm glad I kept it reasonable, because PT test is next weekend, oh joy, oh rupture.

Ozzie knocks over drinks, too. We have to keep ours in resealable containers, especially ones that won't open when they hit the floor.
