My Sunday

Fr. Clement hasn't got wheels yet, so I said sure, I'd run some errands with him. The practical part of his course involves him working in hospices, so he needed a chest x-ray. I dropped him off at the clinic he needed and headed up to Miramar to pick up some groceries.

After that began the Quest For A Cell Phone for him. It's very hard to watch someone who believes people are innately good deal with such things. We came up empty-handed. This is a very long story cut short because it was a very un-entertaining odyssey. Cricket Communications owners clearly need to be in the same death camp as owners of check-cashing places.

Home again, home again, and Steve made a chicken soup experiment that failed, ending up being more of a pasta and rice stew with chicken and vegetables. I have some ideas for this as a casserole, involving cream of cheddar soup and maybe a couple of eggs to bind it all.

I also tried out the Netflix "Watch it Now" option. I'd accidentally sent back "The Day Watch" before seeing it, so I called it up on the computer. Steve's connected his laptop to the TV so I can watch Hulu and Crunchyrolls on the bigger screen, so that worked out great. I think I'll be using this option a lot more.

And yes, I walked to Vons and back to get him the cake he was craving. ;)

I've got a prepaid cell from T-Mobile, and they've been great. loree does security for cell phone companies, and she says that T-Mobile has the only 911 infrastructure that doesn't scare her.

He's already got that. The thing is, he has 600 minutes and goes WAY over and didn't want to pay the price to go up to the next level. Also, his English isn't very good and he was confused about the term "prepaid" when we were at the T-Mobile store, insisting that his phone wasn't when it was. He thought the gal at T-Mobile was lying to him while accepting what the obvious shysters at Cricket were saying. It was driving me nuts.

Oh yay. :/

I haven't heard much about Cricket. Don't think we have them in our area.

I told him he's a great friend, but he's on his own in this battle. Shit is expensive. California taxes are high.

Stay away from Sprint.

Far, far away from Sprint.

I count the days until my contract is up.
