Back again...

Photos are going to go in unlocked entries in spcteppy.

Leaving Honduras was painless, except for my sadness at going. JTF-B is only about 500 people which means everybody knows everybody else. Everyone I met was very nice. My work was interesting and taught me a lot about my MOS. Honduras was very kind to me and I was sorry to see it go.

The engineers were all up at 0400 to pack up for their bus at 0630, so no sleeping in for me. MAJ E and I were getting on the 0800 bus back to Tegucigalpa, so I spent the time with my tentmates waiting for them to leave.

The ride back to Tegus wasn't bad. No close calls with death were had and we got through all the ridiculous Honduran red tape easily ($34 to leave the country? Excuse me?) We were on time to Houston, where we cleared Customs and Immigration, and I hate to admit that any airport named after a Bush could be efficient, but it was, beautifully so. Then another three hours back to San Diego, and after a couple of slices of Bronx Pizza, I'm back.

Mei-Mei is diabetic again. She was almost in remission when I left, but the stress of Mommy being away and Steve not always being able to keep her on an every-12-hours schedule with the insulin seems to have taken its toll. I've always laughed at people who put their pets on antidepressants, but if I go off on deployment, I may have to. She has lost at least one mommy in her life, then her brother, so her separation anxiety seems to be acute. I'm pretty sure she'll be okay in a few days.

Here are three photos to give you an idea of what it was like:

This is where I worked, in the command compound. The building on the left is the JAG shop. Note the rooster in the foreground. You'll see him again.

"You are no longer Chuy, Soto Cano Airbase mascot. I say to you, you are Tanngrisnir, and you shall pull the chariot of Thor!"

The destination of our class field trip on Friday.

I hope your return will alleviate Mei-Mei's anxiety and stress and her blood sugar will drop back. Some quality time with you will help.

The compound looks different than what I expected. I'm surprised to see the rooster and goat in the photos.

Lovely waterfall -- I was hoping you would be near somewhere there were ancient ruins like we see in documentaries.

The Copan ruins are an overnight trip, so we didn't get to do it. :( If I ever get *stationed* there, you bet I'll go.

Nice photos. I hope you have more.

I would say welcome home, but you aren't really much closer to me now than two days ago :(

Sounds like a nice time! Was the rooster chill? There was one that lived near where I did in Val Verde, and it was pretty damn mean. He also lived right across from the bus stop.

He had spurs as long as one of my fingers. I stayed a respectful distance from him because he looked like he would fuck my shit up.

No Starbucks, but every other fast-food joint in the States.

Thanks for the info about pet antidepressants; makes me feel not ridiculous.

Postcard was received at some point; I picked it up with the assload of mail I got yesterday.

The goat pic is by far the best one.
